I am mostly a Golden Age crime fan but I read books set anywhere from the turn of the 20th century up to the 1950s. I also read some historical crime too - especially the works of Paul Doherty (another Boro lad!) and Edward Marston.

I also like "unusual" crime - so an 84 year old crime fighting due (Bryant & May; A policeman wizard (Peter Grant) and Frankenstein's daughter and her next-door-neighbour keeping the streets of Whitby safe (Brenda and Effie) are great favourites with me. And now I have a new favourite to add - that well-known Boro lad, Sherlock Holmes from the pen of Mel Small.
