WALKING HOME.

Walking gently through solemn streets

on this early August morning,

starved of sleep in the cold sunrise.

The roads and alleyways share tender shame

frosted lightly, like cheap jewellery.

The houses full of life look empty and dead

Until the windows are penetrated by the new dawn.

And the double glazed glass reflects the light,

letting me walk in the fiery shine.
